The April 12, 2006 issue of the Penn Yan Chronicle Express carried this front-page article lauding the further successes of our own Dundee Theaterites:

[04/16/06]
For
their 2005 spring production the Dundee Theaterites gave
the community another delightful Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The
Pirates of Penzance. Originally scheduled for March, the
production was delayed until the end of April because of renovations to
the DCS auditorium just recently completed. Leading roles in Pirates
were handled by Tyler Thomas, Becky Shoemaker, Justin Wilmott, Kelly Shepardson,
Arden Van Valkenberg and Chris Capurso. [05/02/05]

After
their very successful production of Brigadoon last year,
this season the Dundee High School Drama Club mounted a production of the
classic Gilbert and Sullivan operetta The Mikado, under the
direction of John Christensen. Anyone lucky enough to attend, as
did your editor, would have to agree that the ultimate stars of the production
were Lew Ann Giles and the costume committee consisting of Ann Shepardson,
Cheryl Andrews, Ellen and Michael Chirco, Judy Ebert, Sharon Hunt, Debbie
Impy, Fran Lawson, Pam Palmer and Alice Shoemaker. The costumes
were simply magnificent! [11/24/03]

The Venerable DCS Auditorium During Intermission at The Mikado
The
evening of September 6, 2002 in Dundee and vicinity was perfectly beautiful.
It was a Friday, the last day of the first week of school at DCS.
Pam Miller, director of the Dundee Area Historical Society, hosted
an open house at the restored Barrington No.4 schoolhouse on the DCS campus.
Your editor, equipped with trusty digital Kodak, endeavored to capture
the event for presentation here.

The old Barrington No. 4 schoolhouse is situated just north of the main building on the DCS campus. |

This plaque is prominently displayed in the entrance foyer of the schoolhouse. Clarence Sebring provided the inspiration for and guiding force behind the restoration project. |

A series of photographs such as these displayed in the foyer chronicle the progress of the project and opening day dedication ceremonies. |

[Editor's note: We believe the word "bank" appearing several times in the text above should read "band".]
The
DCS Symphonic Steel band participated in the 15th anniversary celebrations
at the Windmill Farm and Craft Market on June 30, 2001, performing for
nearly three hours to the delight of their audience. At the Windmill
during the summer tourist season this audience tends to be very diverse.
Your editor heard a number of foreign accents among the crowd, including
a couple from the British Isles, which just happens to be where Symphonic
Steel performed later in the summer.

Symphonic Steel's latest recording, Island Melodies from the Finger Lakes, can also be purchased at $12.00 for a CD or $10.00 for a cassette. (Click here for further information on obtaining this recording. Your web site editor can help!)
